The fastest way to make a Just Listed or Open House video is to turn the listing photos into a short vertical video with a listing video tool: paste the listing link, pick 8 to 12 photos, add a "Just Listed" or "Open House" title card and your agent card, add music and export 9:16. With a tool like VidListings, that takes a few minutes of your time, and you can also do it with a Canva template or a phone slideshow app if you have more time than budget.
VidListings makes a listing video tool, mentioned below. We've tried to keep this guide useful whether or not you use it.
How do I make a Just Listed video step by step?
These steps use VidListings, but the same order works in most tools.
- Paste the listing link. A link from Zillow, Realtor.com, Redfin and a few international portals pulls in the photos plus the address, price, beds, baths and size. For other sites, upload 5 to 30 photos instead.
- Pick 8 to 12 photos. The tool picks 8 to start and keeps up to 30 to choose from. Drag them into walk-through order (see the table below).
- Choose the camera moves. Each photo becomes a 3-second clip with an AI camera move, such as Dolly in, Slide right or Crane up. Smart pick chooses one that suits each photo. The move uses your real photo and doesn't add furniture or views.
- Add the title card. Choose "Just Listed" or "Open House" from the headline presets. The address, price, beds and baths fill in from the listing. There are 10 title card styles.
- Add the Open House time. Drop the Open house sticker, which carries the time, and type the date in a heading.
- Add your agent card. Logo, name, brokerage, phone, email and the listing address. Save it once in the brand kit and it goes on every video.
- Add music from the built-in library.
- Export 9:16. Vertical works for Reels, TikTok, Shorts and Facebook Reels. Export 1:1 too if you post to the feed. The finished video shows up in your dashboard a few minutes after export.
Before you post, watch every clip full screen. If one looks off, redo just that clip. Our guide to AI real estate videos has a short checklist.
What order should the photos go in?
Lead with the photo that makes people stop scrolling, then walk through the home the way a buyer would.
| Order | Photo | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Front exterior, best light | The hook, under the title card |
| 2 | Living room | The first "could I live here" room |
| 3 | Kitchen (one or two photos) | Often the main selling point |
| 4 | Dining or family room | Shows how the rooms connect |
| 5 | Primary bedroom | Size and light |
| 6 | Primary bath | Finishes |
| 7 | Backyard, patio, pool or view | A strong closer |
| 8 | Exterior again | Sits under your agent card |
Skip near-duplicates, close-ups of fixtures and floor plans. For an Open House, cut to the 8 strongest photos so the video stays short and nobody misses the date and time.
How long should a Just Listed video be?
Aim for 30 to 45 seconds. At 3 seconds per photo, 10 photos make 30 seconds and 15 make 45. That's long enough to show the main rooms and short enough that most viewers stay to your agent card.
Shorter is fine for a reminder. An Open House video the day before can run 8 photos, about 24 seconds of clips.
What should I write on screen?
Keep on-screen text to what a viewer needs in 3 seconds:
- Headline: Just Listed, Open House, Price Improved, Just Sold or Coming Soon.
- Address: street and city are enough.
- Price.
- Beds and baths. The beds & baths sticker works if you don't use a title card.
- Open House date and time: for example, "Saturday, 1 to 3 PM".
- Your name and phone: on the closing agent card.
Everything else, such as the school district, lot size and upgrades, goes in the caption. Keep text away from the bottom and right edges, where the app's buttons and your caption sit.
What should the caption say?
Start with the news, then the key facts, then one clear next step. A few examples to adapt:
- "Just listed in [neighborhood]: 3 beds, 2 baths and a fenced backyard at [price]. Message me for a private showing."
- "Open House this Saturday, 1 to 3 PM at [address]. Come see the new kitchen and the corner lot. Details in the link in my bio."
- "Price improved on [address]. Now [new price] for 4 beds, a home office and a two-car garage. DM me for the disclosure packet."
- "Just sold in [neighborhood]. Thinking about selling? I'd be glad to talk through what your home could list for."
Add the city and neighborhood as plain words or hashtags so local buyers can find it. For more post ideas around a listing, see our list of real estate social media posts.
What are the other ways to make one?
| Route | Your time | Skill needed | What it looks like |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listing video tool (such as VidListings) | A few minutes | None | Each photo moves with a camera move; listing details fill in from the link |
| Canva or similar template | Longer: you place each photo and type every detail | Some design comfort | Animated text over still photos; you type every detail |
| Phone slideshow app, such as iMovie | Longer: you add and trim each photo | Basic | Pan-and-zoom on still photos; reads as a slideshow |
A template is a good choice if you already use Canva for your brand. A slideshow app is fine for a quick story post. If you post every listing, the minutes add up, and that's where a listing video tool saves the most time.
How should I post it on each platform?
| Platform | What the platform allows | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram Reels | Up to 20 minutes; Reels over 3 minutes aren't recommended to new audiences; 1.91:1 to 9:16, at least 30 fps and 720 px (Instagram Help, specs) | Post the 9:16 version and pick the exterior frame as the cover |
| TikTok | Up to 3 minutes documented in TikTok's newsroom | 9:16 at 1080 x 1920; keep it under 60 to 90 seconds |
| YouTube Shorts | Square or vertical up to 3 minutes counts as a Short (YouTube Help) | Put the address and city in the title |
| Facebook Reels | No length or format restrictions, per Meta (June 2025) | Share to your page and local groups that allow listings |

How do I make a Price Improved, Just Sold or Coming Soon version?
Reuse the same project and change the title card.
- Price Improved: switch the headline to Price Improved, update the price, and lead with a different photo than the Just Listed video so it doesn't look like a repost. The Price reduced sticker works too.
- Just Sold: switch the headline to Just Sold and add the Sold sticker. The optional Sold sign effect paints a sign into the photo, which changes the image, so the sticker is the simpler choice.
- Coming Soon: use 3 to 5 photos and the Coming Soon headline. Check your MLS's rules on marketing before a listing is active.
What are the limits?
- No voiceover and no automatic captions in VidListings. The video is motion, music and the text you type. If you want captions, add them in the Instagram or TikTok editor.
- The free trial is short. It gives you 2 videos of up to 15 seconds (5 photos), with a watermark. Paid plans have no watermark and allow up to 25 photos per video.
- Photo quality carries the video. Motion can't fix dark or crooked photos.
If you'd like to try it on your next listing, VidListings is free to start.
